My mother once told me that she was a "practicing" Catholic.  She was "practicing" because she hadn't gotten it right just yet.  I guess that's where I am spiritually, "practicing" and growing.  I believe that we all have gifts that are given to us.  I sincerely believe that it is my gift to help others heal and to make their hard things easy.  God has placed an intense desire in my heart to  do so.

I am also a practicing wife and mother.  I say "practicing" because I haven't gotten this all right yet either (I don't think I'll ever do that).  However, I continue to grow from my experiences.  I have six children. Yes, I did say six!  Together with my husband, Joe, we build our family, encountering joys and challenges along the way.  One of these challenges and joys is homeschooling our children.  One of the greatest pleasures in my life is watching them grow physically, emotionally, and academically as their mother and teacher.

Finally, I am a practicing counselor.  When I graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Master's of Science degree in Counseling, I was unaware of the journey I would be taking.  My interests and experiences have been diverse:  advocating for persons with disabilities, being a school counselor, and providing individual and group therapy in a private setting.  A seed was planted in these experiences, cultivating my desire to open my own private practice in my hometown of Opelousas.  Blumrich Counseling opened its doors in 2012.  I have enjoyed watching growth in my clients, watching them overcome personal obstacles and setting and reaching goals.  As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I help to provide emotional growth to others. I have found that there are particular areas I am most interested, including Play Therapy and Sandtray Therapy.  As part of my continued professional growth, I am currently seeking to be a Registered Play Therapist and certified in Child-Parent Psychotherapy.

As you can see, my personal and professional interests are very closely related.  I hope to make hard things easier for others; by teaching, guiding, and allowing every individual to grow from their life's challenges in an environment that provides acceptance, warmth, empathy, trust and mutual respect.

Great conditions to GROW!
